The Table changes course
EDITED BY CINTYA CONCARI AND ROBERTO MARCATTI
Palaeontological Museum of Maglie (Lecce)
After Gio Ponti and Tobia Scarpa to whom we have, respectively, dedicated an Exhibition on the occasion of the 2022 and 2023 editions of the Mercatino del Gusto – the curators have chosen to dare, addressing the culture of food and the culture of design with the tale of the conviviality of the future. All this through 8 table settings designed by as many designer/architect studios that have chosen to interpret the future through the utopian, fairytale, single, dreamlike, emerged, suspended, salvific and organic table.
The purpose and challenge of the exhibition “The Table Changes Course” is therefore an invitation and a stimulus to break out of the mould, to orient oneself in the crowded design panorama that surrounds us daily for a look that goes “beyond“, enhancing all aspects of diversity and inclusiveness to try to convey an ethical and social message, but also one of beauty and ease of use. Proposing to what is ‘extra-ordinary’ current solutions that are the result of the same research, attention, technology and beauty that we use for ordinary projects.
