Palaeontological Museum of Maglie (Lecce)
‘THE TASTE OF SPEED’, an inseparable link between taste, design and Formula 1 to celebrate ‘Made in Italy’ at the 2026 edition of the Mercatino del Gusto
Food culture and design culture narrated through images, in which food and car design reveal their profound, rigorous, and refined discipline. They are thought before form; they are vision, tireless research. They are architecture, technique, engineering, entrepreneurship, management, and at the same time art and poetry. They transform an intuition into a project, and the art of taste into concrete emotion. Food and design are a universal language. They know no boundaries, they tolerate no divisions. Food and design speak to everyone, to all of humanity. They are the bridge between cultures, sensibilities, and eras. At the heart of the project is taste, which is not just savoring food but something deeper. It is aesthetic sensitivity, it is culture, it is identity, just as car design, which finds its maximum expression through Formula 1, seeks beauty, between reason and emotion, between technique and elegance. A project in which, once again, food and design dialogue between memory, innovation, and tradition, becoming a distinctive symbol of the most fascinating Made in Italy.
The exhibition is accompanied by a book published by Sfera Edizioni Bari, which explores the close synergy between food, design, and Formula 1, helping visitors better understand our Italian excellence. A philosophy that extends beyond the automobile and can be applied to any passion for Made in Italy, a celebration of our identity. Ultimately, food and car design help shape dreams, transforming speed into emotion, taste into identity, and technique into art. This is precisely the goal of the exhibition “The Taste of Speed – A Journey Through Food, Design, and Formula 1, a Distinctive Symbol of Made in Italy.” This exhibition promotes Italian excellence worldwide: Italian food and design, their culture, and the cult of beauty, while also integrating them into a productive reality.
